Introduction
With constant innovation and a continual improvement of products, Taiwanese mainboard manufacturers have become the primary driving force behind the OEM market. A company such as ABIT had distinguished itself as the enthusiast’s preferred maker because of their award-winning SoftMenu BIOS that supports overclocking.

The SA6R is the latest in the line of their i815E series of mainboards, the second derivative of the earlier SE6 that was only met with lukewarm reception. In the break between the two variants, ABIT had concentrated on their VIA KX133 Slot-A and Socket-A KT133 based mainboards for the AMD Athlon and Duron family of processors, which then allowed them to carry over many fine features like onboard IDE RAID controller amongst others.

We have in our test lab the ABIT SA6R board for the past two weeks and we have carried out a series of tests on Windows 98 SE.
